Item 8.01. Other Events.
On December 12, 2008, the Board of Directors of Allegheny Technologies Incorporated (the
Company) approved a voluntary contribution of shares of the Companys common stock to the
Companys U.S. defined benefit pension plan (the Pension Plan) in the amount of $30 million in
market value or 1.5 million shares, whichever is greater in value. The Board of Directors also
had previously approved a voluntary contribution to the Pension Plan of approximately $30 million in cash. The
Company intends for both contributions to be made in the fourth quarter of 2008.
