Once the profile—inclusive of menu specials, parking, payment options and more—is uploaded, a simple zip code search takes taco surfers to the nearest Taco Tuesday.

Purchased in November 2019 in a lucky domain landgrab by OC Restaurant Association Founder and President Pamela Waitt, the TacoTuesday.com URL was publicly announced shortly thereafter and numerous restaurants were in position for a 2020 launch slated for May 5, Cinco de Mayo. But the pandemic struck first, delivering a big blow of two rounds of shutdowns. True to its reputation for being resilient, creative and entrepreneurial, however, the industry responded by shifting to curbside pickup, delivery and outdoor dining, with TacoTuesday.com doing its part to ensure the beloved taco lives on.

“During this time of phased re-opening, restaurants need to encourage take-out and dining out as much as possible,” says Waitt, an Orange County native who is also creator and executive producer of the Golden Foodie Awards and the founder of OC Restaurant Week and Pacific Wine & Food Classic. “As the ultimate taco resource, TacoTuesday.com is the go-to site where establishments and taco lovers can find each other—and a place where everyone, everywhere, can share their favorite taco stories, images, videos, humor, events and recipes.”

Research shows that Taco Tuesdays drive 36% more business on average to restaurants and Taco Tuesday has grown during the pandemic. Taco Tuesday had 90 million search results in March 2020. By August, that number skyrocketed to 180 million. In March, the #TacoTuesday hashtag was used 3 million times and by September, #TacoTuesday was used over 4 million times.
