Introduction

 

This Form 8-K/A amends Valley’s Form 8-K filed on December 16, 2004 to provide additional information now available on Michael L. LaRusso’s committee appointment.

 

Item 5.02 Departure of Directors or Principal Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Principal Officers

 

On December 14, 2004, the Board of Directors of Valley National Bancorp appointed Michael L. LaRusso, 59, of New Vernon, New Jersey as a director of the Company.

 

On April 6, 2005, Mr. LaRusso was appointed to Valley’s Compensation and Human Resources Committee.

 

Mr. LaRusso has extensive experience as an employee of financial institutions in the area of risk management and compliance. He served for 23 years with the Comptroller of the Currency. He received a Finance degree from Seton Hall University.
