Item 8.01 Other Events.
On September 29, 2005, McAfee, Inc. (the “Registrant”) issued a press release announcing that
it had created a reserve in connection with a potential settlement of an investigation by the
Securities and Exchange Commission. The Registrant had previously announced in March 2002 that the
SEC had begun a formal investigation in connection with its results in the year 2000 and prior
periods.
