Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield has served Ohio residents for more than 81 years with access to innovative, high quality healthcare for more than 3.6 million members in employer-sponsored health plans and individual and Medicare benefit plans.
This year, Anthem was awarded a contract by the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) to provide access to comprehensive healthcare and support services beginning next year to further the Next Generation of Ohio Medicaid Managed Care for Medicaid-eligible individuals. Anthem employs nearly 4,000 associates across the state and plans to add staff to support Medicaid enrollees.
“Greg is a trusted and highly respected leader who has extensive knowledge of Medicaid operations as well as a passion for serving communities across his home state of Ohio,” said Kristen Metzger, President of Anthem’s Medicaid East Region. “He has been recognized as a strong and dynamic leader who is capable of guiding our Anthem Medicaid health plan through a time of tremendous growth and transformational change. We look forward to his ongoing leadership as we continue to improve health and lives across Ohio.”
LaManna has more than 13 years of healthcare and leadership experience working with payers and providers across Medicaid and Medicare product lines. Most recently, he led Anthem’s efforts in Ohio working with more than 200 community-based organizations, providers, caregivers, members and other stakeholders to address the social drivers of health by expanding access to emergency housing and workforce development programs that help individuals transition out of homelessness as well as addressing food insecurity, transportation assistance, employment support, education enhancement and healthcare access with a focus on maternal child health.
“Anthem has always had a longstanding local commitment to improving the health of Ohio communities and I look forward to the opportunity to continue the local legacy and longstanding focus on Anthem’s members,” said LaManna. “We are honored to have the opportunity to serve Medicaid enrollees in Ohio through a holistic personalized approach, and we understand our role as a health leader to collaborate with local organizations and our community partners to support those in need. Anthem is committed to serving our members with a simplified healthcare experience that enables them to lead a healthy and productive lifestyle.”
LaManna currently resides in Sylvania and holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Philosophy from Florida State University and a Master of Public Health in Health Organizations and Management from the University of South Florida.
