Upbound Honors Family & Youth Empowerment with $25,000 Donation to City Year

Partnership reinforces commitment to youth by providing support to local schools

Upbound Group, Inc. (the "Company" or "Upbound") (NASDAQ: UPBD), a leading provider of technology driven and flexible leasing solutions for consumers through its operating brands including Rent-A-Center® and Acima®, began a new partnership with City Year by donating $25,000 to the organization. The organization is dedicated to providing support to students, classrooms and teachers, helping to ensure that students in systemically under-resourced schools are prepared with the skills and mindsets to thrive and contribute to their community.

“Upbound’s commitment to our communities goes beyond financial wellbeing, it extends to the classroom,” said CEO Mitch Fadel. “We put our core values into action by supporting causes that give families peace of mind and offer youth opportunities that will help them reach their full potential. We believe each child should receive the best education, mentoring opportunities and family services possible to equip and empower them to be the best they can be.”

Upbound supports charities and organizations that align with its community pillars: disaster relief, family and youth empowerment, hunger relief and veterans affairs. Upbound’s desire to help families thrive aligns perfectly with City Year’s vision and principles. City Year’s core belief is that all students can succeed and the development of these skills contributes to a strong, vibrant community, which benefits all of us.

"We are so incredibly grateful for the Upbound Group's investment in City Year Dallas as we continue our service to students throughout our community,” said Heather Holland, Executive Director – City Year Dallas. “This year, we have recruited and trained over 60 Corps Members - young idealistic leaders dedicating a year of service to others - that will be deployed in historically underserved schools across South Dallas to provide the academic, attendance, and social emotional learning supports students need to achieve their full potential, regardless of race or economic background. We need the support of our community to continue our service and appreciate Upbound for joining us as a partner in this work.”

About City Year:

City Year Dallas (CYD) bridges the gap between what schools are designed to provide and what all students need to succeed. We recruit, train, and support Corps Members (CMs) ages 18 - 25 from diverse backgrounds to serve full-time in historically underserved and underperforming schools, helping to ensure all children, regardless of race or economic background, receive an excellent education. Working alongside teachers, CYD CMs provide extra support on attendance, literacy, math, and social-emotional well-being to help students build the confidence, self-esteem, academic, and soft skills required to succeed and thrive through school and beyond. CYD fulfills our mission by addressing one of our nation's most pressing concerns: educational inequity. We are contributing to a clearer and bolder vision of what public schools can be for all children: places of learning, exploration and risk-taking, where every student has access to positive relationships that encourage them to thrive.
