Sparck’s power to innovate has been a constant throughout its unique history. From day one, the company has prioritized innovation and the development of high-tech solutions aimed at supporting business and enhancing their operational efficiency. Founded in The Netherlands as HaDeWe in 1924, the small engineering business displayed its ingenuity early on by moving from repairing windmills to developing and building machines that revolutionized the production of wooden clogs. The year 1936 also marked a significant turning point for HaDeWe as the company introduced the first stencil machine. This pioneering creation not only brought the company international recognition, but also expanded its presence to the U.S.

By the 1950’s, the company had reinvented itself again, boosting the productivity of office workers around the world with its cutting-edge mailroom solutions capable of folding and filling thousands of envelopes per hour. Its success in developing novel concepts, such as rethinking mailroom products for desk-top use, went global - setting the pace for future innovation.

As part of Neopost (Quadient) for more than 30 years, the business continued to tap into its creative DNA to push the limits of what’s possible. In 2013, the company discovered a need for more effective and sustainable packaging solutions as a result of the rapid increase in online ordering. Its team of engineers designed smart, automated fit-to-size packaging systems to reduce costs and minimize waste. The very first packaging machine was the CVP-500 (now CVP Impack). Four years later, it unveiled its CVP Everest.

Both state-of-the-art auto-boxing systems optimize order fulfillment, solve labor challenges and reduce box volume for shippers across a variety of industries. With only one or two operators required, these solutions offer up to 50% reduction in shipping volume and up to an 88% reduction in labor as they can replace up to 20 manual packing stations.

Over the span of a century, Sparck has achieved significant growth, continuing to ensure its technical solutions are in-line with market developments. Its CVP Impack and CVP Everest machines use advanced 3D scanning technology to optimally measure, construct, seal, weight and label each single- or multi-item order of any shape or texture in one seamless process. The CVP Impack can produce up to 500 fit-to-size boxes per hour, while the CVP Everest can package up to 1,100 boxes per hour.

Now as an independent company for the last three years, Sparck continues to innovate, leading the field with advances that deliver huge competitive advantage, including: a high-speed print-on-box facility, the capability to produce ultra-low profile boxes of just 28mm – enabling businesses to benefit from boxes that are letter rate compliant in North America and most European countries – and most recently auto-induction, which removes the need for an operator, allowing a seamless transit of orders from picking station to packing and dispatch.

Installed in more than 15 countries, both automated packaging machines have revolutionized e-commerce packaging, contributing to reduced freight volume and costs, labor savings and less packaging material and waste. To date, the CVP Impack and CVP Everest have produced more than 200 million right-sized boxes.

Today, Sparck is headquartered in Drachten, The Netherlands, a site it has occupied since 1947. The company has over 200 employees across North America, The Netherlands, Germany, France, United Kingdom, and Poland.
