Located 35 Minutes From Downtown Phoenix, The City Of Maricopa Is On The Rise As A Highly Educated Workforce Continues To Move To The Area

Former Mayor, Christian Price, now President & CEO of Maricopa Economic Development Alliance (MEDA), leads the economic development organization, enthusiastically attracting industry to this booming city.

Established in 2003, what was once an old Western trading post is now the third fastest-growing city in the West with a population that has gone from 1,040 residents in 2000 to nearly 80,000 in 2023, attracting a highly educated workforce to the region looking for a place to build their lives.

“With our growing population, we have a substantial workforce that commutes out of the city each day,” says Christian Price, President and CEO of Maricopa Economic Development Alliance (MEDA). “An estimated 80% of our commuters have shared that they would rather take a pay cut than leave the city for work. Our goal is to attract business that can utilize this vast workforce and support our local community.

” When asked about Maricopa, Tarina Lovegrove, an Economic Development Specialist for MEDA, states, “The community is what makes Maricopa so great. It is interactive, with cultural events, friendly people, as well as an approachable Mayor and city council members: a real feel of the American hometown. It is an exciting time to be part of this vibrant community that boasts great schools, safe neighborhoods, and an exceptional quality of life.”

From scout troops to community gatherings, newcomers to Maricopa quickly find themselves acclimating to the city and creating a community they want to partake in via their own interests, backgrounds, and talents. “Maricopa is a unique melting pot with many different cultures and viewpoints intermixed,” explains Price. “That diversity brings together different voices and perspectives to create a robust city with the feeling of a neighborhood shaped by diverse opinions, philosophies, and communities. It makes our city a safe, inclusive, and prosperous place with welcoming neighbors.”

MEDA’s Economic Development Man ager, Rachel Leffall, shares the sentiments and adds, “Imagine experiencing and shaping the development of the place you call home. The City of Maricopa’s rapid yet strategic growth has created a sustainable and thriving environment that provides new opportunities for residents and businesses to prosper.

Located in Pinal County, whose tagline “Wide Open Opportunity” certainly applies to Maricopa, the rapidly growing population is looking for places to invest time, talent, and treasure.

“The city attracts young families and retirees alike, from college-educated career professionals to highly skilled engineers, trade specialists and business entrepreneurs, that want to live and thrive in a place they call home,” says Price.

As the city grows, the need for new roads, byways, and thoroughfares, along with improvements to other traditional infrastructure, is the top priority of city leadership and its strategic partners. These planned-for capital improvements create a desirable opportunity to locate large-scale industries, such as advanced manufacturing, solar, auto motive, and many more.

“The widespread building of infrastructure and transportation is a key element in a city’s growth,” says Price. “Building a city means creating pathways to success.” Now is the time to take advantage of what Maricopa has to offer.
