EXPOSE Summer Youth Program Provides a Host of Benefits to High School Students

LOS ANGELES - Aug. 29, 2024 - PRLog -- The EXPOSE Summer Youth Career Series Program held at the Expo Center in Los Angeles recently concluded its highly successful 9-week summer camp, bringing together a diverse group of professionals to inspire and educate students. It allowed them to explore and gain firsthand experience with fields of interest, network with likeminded peers, and build new skills.

With a strong focus on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) opportunities, this year's program featured experts from various fields. Speakers included Mr. Leslie Luke from the Los Angeles County Office of Emergency Management; Mr. Charles Sharpe of BEMA International; Richard Hazel, VP of SCSBMDC; Dentist, Dr. Sara Sabokpey  Psychologist; Dr. Bahari Talei; Dr. Deborah Hayter; Engineering, Anieahko Ojior; Business Analyst at Honda, Erame Okojie; Medical professionals Dr. Mona Toeque; Health care professional Carrie Cocan; Chinwe Edomobi, owner of WZB Logistics LLC; former Boxer, Alan Santana; and EXPOSE's Founder, Monalisa Okojie.

These professionals shared their unique career journeys, the challenges they've faced, and their personal goals, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the vast opportunities available within STEAM fields.

David Armenta, Recreation Coordinator at the Expo Center, noted that the students thoroughly enjoyed the summer camp, a particular highlight was a hands on activity that introduced students to a cultural heritage but also fostered creativity and self- expression, bringing cultural awareness to the diverse group of students. "EXPOSE's Youth Career Series is designed to ignite a vision for the future among young people in underserved communities," said Monalisa Okojie, Founder and Executive Director of EXPOSE. "By connecting our youth with professionals who are passionate about their work, we aim to inspire the next generation of leaders and innovators."

Within the immersive STEAM workshops, and enriching field trips that exposed them to a wide range of career possibilities, this tailored approach ensured that the unique needs of the communities served by EXPOSE were met, fostering economic prosperity and equitable opportunities.
