SynchroNet is Prioritizing Two-Step and Multi-Factor Authentication Education

Tanner Sanderson, VP of Business Development, is leading the charge to help smbs understand 2-step verification, also called 2FA or MFA, to improve their security posture.

West Seneca , United States - February 15, 2022 /PressCable/

Today Tanner Sanderson, VP of Business Development at SynchroNet Industries, was interviewed by a local marketing expert, Ben Albert, for Ben’s “Five Minute Friday” series. In this series, an invited subject matter expert delivers a quick analysis and next steps on a critical topic to educate podcast subscribers and social media followers. Tanner’s topic is two-factor and multi-factor authentication. The podcast may be viewed here: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/you-cant-have-moat-filled-crocodiles-can-mfa2fa-ben-albert/

Then on Monday, February 14, 2022, Tanner will give a 15-minute presentation on the benefits of implementing MFA or 2FA and how to get started to the GROW Buffalo networking group, which will reach several hundred professionals in the Western New York area.

Both presentations highlight points like, “2FA and MFA increase people’s awareness of data security.” How so? Tanner says, “Suppose you get an email with a notification that a sign-on was prevented because the final verification failed. In that case, you know someone’s trying to get into your account without your permission! The result is threefold: You’ll be more careful and deliberate the next time you log into that app! You’ll enhance your security by changing your password. And you’ll monitor all account activity. This vigilance is important!”

MFA and 2FA require users to complete additional verification steps to validate their legitimate access to tools, websites, or accounts working with protected information. According to Tanner, “No business is too big or too small to skip adding 2FA or MFA to their critical business applications.”

Tanner describes MFA as a critical component of any organization’s cybersecurity plan. He says, “Many people we talk with regularly either don’t know about two-factor or know about it but haven’t implemented it. Maybe they haven’t gotten good advice in the past, or they don’t know how to get things up and running.”

Tanner acknowledges that it can be “overwhelming to assess how many tools could have two-factor.” He suggests making a list of the business tools containing, using, or connecting to confidential information like PII (personally identifiable information), demographic, biometric, or financial data. He explains, “Once you have your list, open each tool’s security settings and look for the option to enable enhanced verification like two-step authentication.” If the list is very long, Tanner says businesses have options: “You can bring everything under the same umbrella via a tool like OneLogin and gain the many security benefits of having two-step.”

To make this information even more accessible to small and medium-sized businesses in WNY and beyond, SynchroNet is releasing a new cybersecurity awareness training video via social media and their free Vimeo Channel (https://vimeo.com/channels/SynchroNet) entitled “Everything You Need to Know About 2FA/MFA.” The direct link to the video is: https://vimeo.com/672158930

Why the push to educate as many people as possible about enhanced authentication? Tanner concludes, “My goal in talking about MFA is to give people the confidence to move forward with two-factor, whether we work together or not.”

SynchroNet is honoring Tanner’s efforts to reach out to the community to educate business owners on this vital topic with a People on the Move accolade posted on Business First Buffalo. This professional recognition lets the greater Western New York community know about Tanner’s commitment to assisting cybersecurity-focused leaders in making better security decisions and plans.
