Cindy Walters Releases New Book for Nonprofit Executive Directors: “Simplify to Serve: A Blueprint to Lead a Well-Run Nonprofit without Losing Your Sanity”

Cindy Walters, MSSW, ACNP, a seasoned nonprofit Executive Director and consultant, has announced the release of her new book, “Simplify to Serve: A Blueprint to Lead a Well-Run Nonprofit Without Losing Your Sanity.” The book offers a step-by-step guide for Executive Directors of small independent nonprofits to build capacity, strengthen systems, and achieve results for their organizations. The book is now available on Amazon.

Walters’ experience as an Executive Director and CEO of multiple nonprofits has equipped her with a unique skill set that directly aligns with the needs of small nonprofits with a budget of less than $1 million. Agencies she has worked for include the American Cancer Society, American Red Cross, Camp Fire, Inc., Golden Key International Honour Society, and YWCA and other independent organizations. She has dedicated her career to serving the nonprofit sector, and her passion lies in helping Executive Directors and nonprofit organizations build a sustainable future to carry out their missions.

My mission is to help small independent nonprofits build capacity with stronger leadership,” Cindy stated.

Nonprofit organizations, like any other business, require efficiency and effectiveness to survive and thrive. Unfortunately, nonprofit organizations, particularly small nonprofits, often face challenges that can impede their progress. One of the most significant challenges faced by nonprofits is a lack of oversight and guidance, which can result in inefficiencies and wasted resources. According to a recent report by the National Council of Nonprofits, this lack of oversight and guidance can also lead to fraud, mismanagement, and other legal and financial risks.

When nonprofit agencies are well-run, they are more efficient and effective, meaning more people are served, and the donated dollar goes further. Walters believes that “nonprofits need sustainability first to have longevity.” By providing Executive Directors with the tools and guidance they need to build capacity and efficiency, Walters’ mission is to help small independent nonprofits build strong leadership and self-care to build a stronger nonprofit.

“For the past twenty-five years, I have dedicated my career to serving the nonprofit sector. During my career, there were people and organizations to support and guide me. I wanted to offer support to nonprofit Executive Directors in small independent nonprofits where there is no oversight or guidance. The book ‘Simplify to Serve:  A Blueprint to Lead a Well-Run Nonprofit without Losing your Sanity’ and my courses and services were designed with the new Executive Director in mind,” says Cindy.

According to the National Center for Charitable Statistics, there are over 1.5 million nonprofit organizations in the United States. These organizations have a significant impact on the economy, employing over 10% of the workforce and accounting for over 5% of the GDP. However, the nonprofit sector faces unique challenges, including limited resources and increasing demand for services. Nonprofit organizations need guidance and oversight to operate efficiently and effectively.

Cindy’s book, “Simplify to Serve:  A Blueprint to Lead a Well-Run Nonprofit without Losing your Sanity” provides a blueprint for nonprofit Executive Directors to lead their organizations with confidence and clarity. The book covers essential topics such as:

  • Leadership
  • Strategic planning
  • Financial management
  • Board development
  • And more

Cindy’s years of experience in the nonprofit sector have given her a deep understanding of the challenges facing nonprofit Executive Directors, and her book is an invaluable resource for those looking to build capacity, strengthen systems, and demonstrate results.

Walters just received notification of her new designation as an Advanced Certified Nonprofit Professional from the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance.

Executive Directors need self-care to build a stronger nonprofit,” Walters concluded.

About Cindy Walters and the Nonprofit Success Network

Cindy Walters’ Nonprofit Success Network was created to offer coaching, consulting, training or just a friendly ear. The goal is to help nonprofit Executive Directors to run a successful organization with less stress and more confidence. At one time, she was considering returning to school to get a doctoral degree to teach others about the nonprofit profession. She realized she would rather work directly with Executive Directors of small nonprofits and their leadership to provide training and support. It was the actual implementation rather than the academic theory that helped her build capacity for the organizations she served as Executive Director. It was relationships, systems and resources that allowed her to succeed.
