Avetta’s Laurie Knape Named 2021 Women in Supply Chain Award Winner

The award, given by Supply & Demand Chain Executive, recognizes outstanding female executives whose accomplishments leverage supply chains for competitive advantage.

Avetta’s Laurie Knape, HSE Professional - Regulatory and Industry Relations, was named a 2021 Women in Supply Chain Award Winner by Supply & Demand Chain Executive. The Women in Supply Chain award honors female supply chain leaders and executives whose accomplishments, mentorship and examples set a foundation for women in all levels of a company’s supply chain network.

Knape helps Avetta clients and suppliers worldwide with supply chain risk management, and enterprise and workplace safety through contractor management and prequalification using Avetta Connect™ software. Knape oversees regulatory compliance for the Avetta Connect™ program—directly impacting Avetta customers’ safety results. Her efforts helped reduce safety incidents and lost workdays of Avetta’s clients and suppliers by 40% to 70% compared to industry averages.

“Laurie successfully builds and strengthens relationships, communities and collaboration to improve safety for Avetta’s clients and suppliers,” said Arshad Matin, Avetta President and Chief Executive Officer. “She is a great role model for women, and for all of us, on how to promote knowledge and expertise to understand and follow regulations to enhance safety. Laurie is an excellent leader.”

Knape helped launch Avetta’s Safety Quizzes—tools to gamify and compare safety scores against peers within industries and companies. The quizzes are based on safety standards for anything from fire hazards to electrical hazards and more. Knape spearheaded the collection of a database of 6,000 questions, which will be used throughout the coming months to help educate professionals on safety regulations.

This year’s list includes individuals from software and service providers, consultancies and academia, trucking and transportation firms, professional development agencies, sourcing and procurement divisions and more. All winners have helped supply chain clients and the supply chain community prepare to meet many of today’s—and tomorrow’s—challenges.

“These women are just absolutely amazing in so many ways. They’ve re-tooled, re-innovated and revamped how the world sees the supply chain and logistics industry. They’ve paved the way for future female supply chain leaders to become a part of an industry that matters. Because women in the supply chain matter,” says Marina Mayer, Editor-in-Chief of Supply & Demand Chain Executive and Food Logistics. “I’m honored to recognize and celebrate the achievements of so many female supply chain leaders.”

Knape has more than 20 years of HSE experience. She is currently the Regulatory Chairperson for the Gulf Coast Safety and Training Group and the vice-chair for the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) Energy Corridor. She is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP) and Certified Loss Control Specialist (CLCS).
