Divert, Inc. Expands Executive Leadership Team with Appointment of Kathleen Patton as General Counsel

Patton brings more than 20 years of legal experience to her role with Divert to accelerate the company’s rapidly scaling solutions to the wasted food crisis

Divert, Inc., an impact technology company on a mission to Protect the Value of Food™, today announced the expansion of its executive leadership team with the appointment of Kathleen Patton as general counsel.

Patton brings more than 20 years of experience to her role at Divert, having served as general counsel and secretary of both public and private technology companies, including most recently for Jobcase. At Jobcase, Patton oversaw all legal and privacy matters and engaged in significant corporate transactions. Prior to Jobcase, Patton was general counsel of CarGurus, the largest car shopping site in the U.S., where she steered the company through its IPO to public company maturity, while scaling the legal department and engaging in several acquisitions. Prior to CarGurus, Patton was general counsel of Demandware, a publicly traded provider of enterprise-class cloud commerce solutions, where she navigated the company through its multi-billion dollar acquisition by Salesforce.

“In its 16-year history, Divert has emerged as a true leader in the wasted food space and is well-positioned to address the food waste problem at scale through its expansion roadmap and strategic partnerships,” said Patton. “In addition, I am equally thrilled to join a mission-based company that is truly dedicated to doing good and having a positive social and environmental impact.”

Patton’s appointment comes during a stage of rapid growth for Divert, with development underway for 30 wasted food to renewable energy facilities in every major geographic region in the U.S. by 2031, including facilities already under construction in Turlock, California and Longview, Washington. Divert has also increased its employee headcount by 20% since 2022 to support this growth.

“Over the next decade, Divert is poised to accelerate its impact on the wasted food crisis and we are committed to hiring the best leadership and talent to make that a reality,” said Ryan Begin, CEO and co-founder of Divert. “Kathleen brings an impressive background in legal, strategic, and corporate governance matters to our executive leadership team, and her passion and experience in scaling companies will be invaluable in this next exciting stage for our company.”

Kathleen holds a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and a B.A. in Government and German from Dartmouth College.
