BTIG Names Andrew Maller and Paul Wood Co-Heads of SPAC Investment Banking

BTIG has named Andrew Maller and Paul Wood Co-Heads of SPAC Investment Banking. With an already established SPAC presence, today’s announcement reflects BTIG’s continued support of their clients, including SPAC Sponsors, companies, and investors who understand the strategic role SPACs play in helping companies access the US public markets.

“We are excited to announce the promotion of Andrew and Paul to lead our SPAC Investment Banking business,” said Scott Kovalik, CEO of BTIG. “They both have a deep understanding of the SPAC landscape and will offer important transactional and market intelligence. Our SPAC offering is an integral part of our existing banking, capital markets and M&A business, and we are fully confident that under their guidance, we will continue to provide innovative solutions and critical service to our clients.”

Andrew Maller joined BTIG’s SPAC Investment Banking group in 2019. Prior to BTIG, Mr. Maller was at RBC for eight years where, most recently, he was in the Alternative Investors Group providing banking coverage for SPACs, family offices, alternative asset managers, diversified holding companies and high net worth individuals. Mr. Maller earned a BS in Finance from George Washington University.

Paul Wood joined BTIG’s SPAC Investment Banking group in 2020. Prior to joining BTIG, Mr. Wood spent 14 years at Citigroup serving in a number of roles, most recently with the Prime Brokerage Unit’s Structured Lending Group overseeing the bank’s SPAC portfolio financing capabilities where he executed esoteric financing transactions for the firm’s hedge fund and PE clients. Prior to that, he advised US Industrials and Aerospace & Defense clients within Citi’s Corporate & Investment Bank. Mr. Wood earned a BS in Business Administration from the University of Richmond and an MSc in Management from E.M. Lyon Business School in Lyon, France.

BTIG’s investment banking products include mergers and acquisitions, capital markets advisory, IPOs, follow-on offerings, ATMs, SPACs, private placements, convertibles, debt, buybacks, liquidity solutions, venture capital, private equity and private capital. Clients benefit from proprietary and actionable market intelligence, and BTIG’s comprehensive understanding of financial dynamics. Aftermarket services include trading coverage and corporate access, connecting issuers with the buy side.
