University of Phoenix Vice Provost Doris Savron Featured Speaker at D2L Executive Summit

Doris Savron will join a panel of industry leaders to discuss meeting the demands of a changing workforce through skills-based programs

University of Phoenix is pleased to announce Doris Savron, vice provost, will be a featured speaker at the “Enabling Learning for Life” panel discussion during the D2L Executive Summit. The panel discussion will be held at 2:15 p.m. PT, July 12, in Ballroom 9 at the Anaheim Marriot in Anaheim, California. The Executive Summit is an annual event featuring presentations from education and corporate leaders focused on how business can help employees learn and build skills, and how educational institutions are adapting to serve learners at every stage of life.

“The D2L Summit offers an opportunity to gather with other thought leaders and examine strategic solutions to issues facing today’s employers and institutions of higher education,” shares Savron. “University of Phoenix is on the leading edge of skills-based curriculum development, and we know from our most recent Career Optimism Index™ study that employers and employees are seeking opportunities to bolster skills and retain talent. I am excited to join this panel of leaders to discuss the acquisition of knowledge and skills that are easily showcased and how those skills can help expand opportunities for career growth.”

The panel discussion will focus on the changing workforce and its potential impact on our systems of higher education, including:

  • The rate of technological advancement and its impact on jobs
  • A lifelong approach to career development and building durable skills
  • Empowering learners who will likely have a variety of traditional and non-traditional career choices during their lives

The panel discussion will also examine aspects of the most recent Future of Jobs report by the World Economic Forum, and some of the challenges and opportunities which may arise in the workforce as certain jobs are projected to disappear, and others are projected to emerge over the next five years. The panel discussion is part of the two-day learning event hosted by D2L meant to empower learners with practical and actionable knowledge.

University of Phoenix recently announced that its innovative skills-mapped curriculum, focused on the working adult learner, has culminated in 100 percent of associate, bachelor and master’s degree programs open for new enrollment now being fully skills-mapped.

Savron's career spans 30 years in healthcare, information technology and academia. In her role as Vice Provost, she oversees strategy for degree, certificate and course offerings, design of curriculum and student learning outcomes for the University. She works collaboratively with her team members to innovate academic solutions that enable the University to provide exceptional student experiences and learning environments to support student success.

Savron’s significant contributions in her profession, mentoring, and community leadership have led to her being selected as Greater Phoenix Chamber’s Private Sector Athena Finalist in 2020. In addition, Savron’s advocacy for women in leadership has led her to project work in India, Zambia and the U.S. supporting women to achieve their potential in their profession. She has designed, led, and presented at several international empowerment conferences.
