Revelyst Brands Participate in Public Lands Roundtable with Montana Rep. Zinke

The company’s Bozeman, Montana-based brands Simms Fishing Products and Stone Glacier joined the Congressman to discuss the introduction of the Public Lands in Public Hands Act

Revelyst, a collective of world-class maker brands that design and manufacture performance gear and precision technologies and a segment of Vista Outdoor Inc. (NYSE: VSTO), has joined two of its brands, Simms Fishing Products and Stone Glacier, in support of the Public Lands in Public Hands Act. The proposed legislation, sponsored by Rep. Ryan Zinke, R-Mont., with support from Rep. Gabe Vasquez, D-N.M., would require Congressional approval for disposals of publicly accessible federal land tracts over 300 acres and for public land tracts over five acres if accessible via a public waterway.

The Act, which would increase Congressional scrutiny over land tracts listed for disposal while protecting smaller transfers that increase public access, has bipartisan support in Congress. It is championed by conservation nonprofits including the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership, Backcountry Hunters & Anglers, Boone & Crockett Club, Congressional Sportsmen Foundation, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Wild Sheep Foundation, Trout Unlimited and more.

“In Montana, public lands are our way of life. It’s not just Yellowstone and Glacier, it’s also the BLM and Forest Service areas where a kid fills their first tag, a lake in the Beartooth Mountains that is the perfect picnic spot, and the trail just down the road that helps you clear your head after a long workday,” said Rep. Zinke, a fifth-generation Montanan who represents the state’s first Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. “Public lands must remain public, and the federal government has a responsibility to manage and ensure access to those lands. As Interior Secretary, I prioritized opening land-locked parcels of public lands and expanding hunting and fishing opportunities across millions of acres. The Public Lands in Public Hands Act is the next step in ensuring our public lands are publicly accessible for future generations. I’m grateful for the collaboration of Montana’s leading recreation, sportsmen and conservation organizations and appreciate Congressman Vasquez’s bipartisan teamwork on the bill.”

On Monday, Feb. 19, Rep. Zinke hosted a roundtable on the Act at Stone Glacier’s headquarters in Bozeman, Montana. Representatives from Simms Fishing Products and Stone Glacier, both of which are Bozeman-based, voiced support for the Public Lands in Public Hands Act and explained why Revelyst firmly believes in public land access and stewardship. Other outdoor industry stakeholders such as nonprofit organizations and outdoor retailers also participated in the roundtable to support the Act.

“Protecting public lands is critical to preserving the opportunity to hunt and fish in America. Public lands are paramount to who we are and what we do at Stone Glacier,” said Jeff Sposito, who leads the Revelyst brand Stone Glacier, as well as sister brands Blackhawk and Eagle, and oversees the entire portfolio’s law enforcement and military channels. “It is imperative to continue elevating and supporting bipartisan legislation that protects public lands so future generations are ensured the same opportunities on public lands that we are fortunate to experience today. We are excited and honored to host the announcement of the Public Lands in Public Hands Act here at the Stone Glacier store in our hometown of Bozeman, Montana.”

Said Diane Bristol, Vice President of Culture & Community for Simms Fishing Products: “Public access is an absolute necessity to maintain our nation’s fishing and hunting heritage and contributes to a thriving community of conservation-minded outdoors people. Access to public lands also supports a vibrant outdoor industry that generates approximately $1.1 trillion in economic output. The Public Lands in Public Hands Act is reflective of collaborative, long-term thinking.”

Revelyst, Simms Fishing Products and Stone Glacier applaud Rep. Zinke for his leadership on this crucial issue and ask other outdoor industry stakeholders to lend their support for passage of this legislation that will protect public lands for generations.
