Vancouver, British Columbia Oct 2, 2023 (Issuewire.com) - From Early Retirement to a Network Cooking Show in Two Weeks

53-Year-old Vancouver designer Duran Bodasing shot a cooking show for the fun of it, but one chance meeting turned into a reality series premiering this October on Chek TV

After a 30-year career designing everything from product packaging, and video games to restaurant interiors, Duran Bodasing was ready to retire early, relax, and just do whatever he felt like doing. Two weeks later he signed a deal with CHEK TV, one of Canada's most respected television stations, for his indie cooking series - The Dome Cooking Show.

"I thought it was a joke when Rob [Germain] called, honestly!" said Chef Duran when asked how he ended up talking to the CEO of CHEK TV about his 8-minute video on how to make 'Dman's Smashed Tacos'. "I had some buddies over in my studio and we decided to shoot a little test footage and see what happens."

"The very next day I attended a celebration of life for an old friend, so it was a very tough & sad day. Afterwards, a gentleman came up to me and said, 'I hope you don't mind me asking, but have you ever thought of being a host on television?'

"I said 'Did someone here tell you about the pilot we shot yesterday?' and he said 'You shot a pilot yesterday?' I said, 'Yeah, It's a cooking show!' and that's when he explained that he works for CHEK TV and he'd love to see it!" Duran sent the pilot to him that night. The next day he gets a call from CHEK TV CEO Rob Germain. "Hello Duran, I just watched your pilot and you have my attention."

Within two weeks Duran and CHEK TV had signed a deal for The Dome Cooking Show to air October 21st 2023 and those retirement plans were put on hold.

Shot in his colourful Vancouver-based home kitchen, from the Domed rooftop penthouse that gives the show its name, Duran brings together elements from Saturday morning retro cartoons, his family roots, travel, his favourite classic TV chefs, as well as his neighbourhood & plenty of pals - runs them all through his years of experience as a restaurateur and seasoned chef, and the result is a half-hour show about amazing dishes that you can't wait to make for yourself. Families will love it.

The Dome Cooking Show is a love letter to the true locals from the city of Vancouver. A collage of Food, Art and culture to celebrate the rich history of the city. Anything can & will happen with Chef Duran & viewers will definitely enjoy his dining guests.

The Dome Cooking Show © premieres on CHEK TV, CHEK VOD & CHEK APP & YouTube (7 PM PST) on Saturday, October 21st @ 6:30 PM PST.
