Interfaith Literature App: Sacred Hinduism & Buddhism Audio Book Library Updated

Ocean 2.0 Reader adds new Hinduism and Buddhism sacred texts to its interfaith library. The immersive e-reader app features a comprehensive collection of literature from various religions, including Zoroastrian, Jainism, Taoism, and Confucianism, among others.

The new texts include The Life of the Buddha (Buddhacarita), Buddhist Prayers, and the Samaveda. All books are narrated by different voice talents around the world with texts flashed on screen aligned word for word for better comprehension.

The addition of the new texts to Ocean 2.0 Reader's collection continues the developers' mission of helping more individuals learn and appreciate other religions while discovering new insights into their own. Religious texts offer a profound insight into the specific belief system and have the power to deepen one’s relationship with their higher power.

Buddhism is one of the world’s largest religions, with practitioners believing that spiritual and physical labor, combined with constant meditation, can help a person achieve enlightenment or nirvana. Buddhists reckon human life is essentially one of suffering, but individuals can change their karma by developing their minds and characters.

Hinduism, on the other hand, is the world’s oldest religion with many gods and goddesses, though three rule the world: Brahma, the creator, Vishnu, the preserver, and Shiva, the destroyer. Similar to Buddhists, Hindus believe in karma or the natural cause and effect of one’s actions. The goal of human life is reincarnation, hopefully allowing a person to learn from their sins and begin working towards their highest self.

Ocean 2.0 Reader believes in the benefits of immersive reading. Aside from having a vast collection of religious classics, all books are word-aligned with an audio recording. Users can also add notes to their copy of the text.

The e-reader regularly adds new texts to its collection. The platform can be accessed with Alexa and through its mobile app, which can be downloaded at no cost. The library is available on Google Play and in the Apple store.

A spokesperson for the company said, "Ocean is a custom e-book reader designed for exploration and study of the sacred literature of the world's religious traditions. It provides a simple cross-platform reading experience with an immersive audio-integrated reading experience and useful study and research tools."
