New Study From Meera Reveals That 61% Of Professionals Interviewed Say Cold Calling In Their Last Favorite Task

A recently published study from Meera.ai, a conversational text messaging platform for sales and marketing teams, has revealed that cold calling is, by far, the least favorite task professionals in the field have to carry out.

Meera.ai, an AI-driven text messaging platform, has worked with the user research platform Lyssna to find the daily tasks that marketing and sales professionals enjoy the least. In order to better understand how their platform can help the professionals who use it, the team at Meera.ai has been conducting research to better understand which jobs are an overall drain on the productivity of work teams.

Most professionals in the field aim to use their time in a way that prioritizes results, and managing their motivation to work can help them do this. However, that motivation can be undermined by having to spend much of that time on jobs that are often thankless, demoralizing, and monotonous.

As such, Meera.ai has taken a look at the most hated sales job conducted by professionals. This pool was based on responses from 80 sales professionals in the United States and the data was collected via the user research platform Lyssna.

The most common answer was overwhelmingly making cold calls, the least favorite task of 61% of individuals polled. Other least favorite tasks included cold emailing (accounting for 10% of answers), data entry/CRM (10%), internal meetings/huddles (5%), qualifying leads (3%), and various other administrative tasks (3%.) In a follow-up question to the survey, which asked what the professionals liked the least about cold-calling, rejection was the most common answer. Quotes from the study include the following:

  • “You are met with hostility and it’s extremely uncomfortable, especially when leads do not seem qualified,” said one respondent.
“People dislike receiving cold calls so it attributes (sic) to a lot of negativity for the day.”
  • “No matter how well you research and prepare, or how good your pitch is, there is always a level of awkwardness when calling a complete stranger.”
  • “Many times it is a waste of precious time. It could lead to something extremely profitable but many times it does not. I think cold calls should be replaced with social media advertising.”

Meera.ai is a platform that aims to diminish the necessity of the role of cold-calling for marketing and sales professionals, in part, by automating the outreach side of these processes.
