Thousand Oaks, CA Sleep Apnea Appliance For Mild To Moderate OSA Announced

Southern California Pulmonary & Sleep Disorders Center (805-557-9930) has updated its sleep apnea treatment options with the Bongo RX therapy device.

Southern California Pulmonary & Sleep Disorders Center is now offering the Bongo RX as part of its treatment options for those suffering from mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).

More details can be found at https://sleepmd4u.com/

The Bongo RX device represents a new, portable form of treatment for sleep apnea sufferers that does not require any bulky apparatus, batteries, hose, or electricity. Clients with suspected sleep apnea conditions are diagnosed and treated by Dr. Ronald A. Popper and his team. Dr. Popper is board-certified in Sleep Disorders Medicine by both the ABSM and the ABIM, while the clinic has been fully accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine since 1985.

The product-so named due to its resemblance to a pair of bongo drums-features a pair of soft, silicone nasal plugs or pillows that form a seal just inside the nasal openings. When a user exhales, the valves close, directing the exhaled air through vent holes to generate expiratory positive airway pressure. This pressure keeps one's airways open until the next inhalation, lessening the effects of OSA.

The center suggests the device will appeal to those who are non-compliant with CPAP devices. The lightweight design is easy to carry around and offers a simple and discreet solution to OSA treatment on the move. According to the Southern California Pulmonary Center website, the device can also be used as a supplemental treatment for CPAP machine users when traveling or staying anywhere without electricity.

Bongo RX plugs-which are reusable and easy to clean with soap and water-come in four different sizes. Dr. Popper can advise on which set is most suitable for a particular patient to ensure the device has an optimal effect.

A recent patient says, “I have been a patient for many years and have always been impressed with the professionalism of the staff and Dr. Popper's care of his patients. I would recommend this group very highly to everyone needing their care.”

As with all OSA devices, the Bongo RX requires a prescription from a registered physician. While some healthcare savings plans may be used to pay for the device, the Bongo RX is not covered by medical insurance.
