Laia Farran Graves is an experienced stylist, fashion journalist specializing in luxury fashion, and Louis Vuitton expert. She has published several books that cover fashion history extensively - titles including 'The Story of Louis Vuitton Luggage'. It was this comprehensive portfolio of work and specialized knowledge on the subject matter that brought Morgan Miller to Farran Graves when he was searching for information on his collectible.
In speaking with Farran Graves, the Symposium Capital CEO explained that he began buying collectibles as he was passionate about them.Finding collectibles to be consistently reliable investments, he turned his passions into a career. This led to the genesis of Symposium Capital, which invests in a "diversified, low-risk portfolio of collectible assets."
Through their research, Miller and Farran Graves were able to trace the suitcase back to the 1930s - a time when Louis Vuitton offered personalized luggage for valued clients and even offered individualized dimensions and finishes. Following this line of enquiry, Farran Graves and Miller concluded that Bugatti founder Ettore Bugatti likely commissioned the luggage for personal use. They also discovered that the exact dimensions of the suitcase matched the "proportions of the parcel-shelf of one of Bugatti's most iconic automotive designs, which was the car his son drove." With this in mind, the pair concluded that it was likely, "Ettore gifted the Louis Vuitton suitcase with the yellow hand-painted company logo to his son, Jean Bugatti, to use on business trips."
