The fall off-season welcomes some of the most unique festivals for any kind of traveler. Whether you are a foodie, music lover, or wildlife enthusiast, there is sure to be a fall festivity that speaks to your interests. Here are a few of the best autumn celebrations this one-of-a-kind season has to offer!

Food and Fun

It’s no secret that Gulf Shores is home to some of the best coastal dishes and fresh food around. And, in the fall, that certainty doesn’t change! In fact, fall is host to many different events and fests dedicated to food, drinks, and, of course, fun! Look out for these upcoming festivals—and be sure to stop by with an empty stomach.

Annual National Shrimp Festival – October 10-13th, 2024

If there is one thing we take seriously in Gulf Shores, it is our seafood. One of the most anticipated events of the year, the National Shrimp Festival, draws over 250,000 visitors to our coast each October. This four-day extravaganza offers a delightful mix of food, music, and art. Walk about and enjoy some of the freshest seafood, (including creative takes on classic shrimp), from over 50 local and regional vendors lined up along the boardwalk. Plus, with a 5K and 10K race, a sand sculpture contest, plenty of shopping, and a children’s activity area, there’s something for everyone. Not to mention, entry is completely free! Trust us, this festival doesn’t skimp when it comes to shrimp.

Flora-Bama Annual Oktoberfest – October 6th, 2024

Looking for a German celebration that’s mere steps from the beach? Then pack your finest lederhosen and head to the Flora-Bama for a taste of Germany on the Gulf! This classic Oktoberfest party features German fare like beer brats, sauerkraut, and potato salad—oh, and cold beer. Participate in the stein hoisting competition, or simply enjoy the live tunes from New Orleans-based polka band, The Brats. The festivities are free to attend, and everyone 21 and up gets a free drink upon entry. Cheers!
