Jill Meunier Pens Book of Inspirational Poems Expressing Her Love for Dogs

By: WebWire

What better way to communicate one's love of dogs and the special relationship between canine and human than through poetry? Author Jill Meunier did just that with her poetry collection “No Bones About It: A Dog Lover's Inspirational Poems” (2nd Edition), which she calls “an inspirational poetic tribute to dogs.”

Jill is a poet and a dog lover to boot, so her poetry speaks of her emotional connection with dogs. Also through her poems, she speaks deeply of her common bond with dog lovers who find comfort in their pets in good times and in bad times.

For Jill, canine companionship is more than therapeutic; it's her calling to poetry. She finds in her dogs not only a sense of family and belonging but also a vocation unique to her.

The author didn't have a dog as a pet until her young adult years. A rough childhood and young to mid-life adulthood left her with a lifetime of chronic and clinical depression and anxiety – until she met dogs.

“All dogs became my quintessential best friends and family,” wrote Jill in the introduction of “No Bones About It.” “Their lives and love superseded the length and quality of most other relationships of my life.

“As repayment for them bestowing themselves on my world, I will glorify them in making THE DOG the one who is serving up his near-human thoughts in most of my poems – the rest being a combination of typical canine-ness and humanity, and the emotions evoked between them.”

“No Bones About It” is for people who love dogs and are interested to know dogs communicate with humans. Within this rhyming dog poetry book, there is a poem for everyone – a poem to which they can relate.

Jill rhymes a tribute to a dog she rescued in “Weenie's Story.” In “Lady in a Dog's Life,” she shares what goes in the life of a dog lover. In “A Wish Upon a Dog,” she expresses her desire to own a dog despite her landlord's refusal. “Dear Neighbor” speaks about a dog owner's concern for a neighbor's (a fellow dog owner) dog.

The book also contains poems written from a dog's perspective. A dog leaves a message for its human in “Old Dog.” “She's A Mess” talks about a dog's description of – and gratitude to – its human. In “Vices Versus,” a dog shares how its human deals with after-work stress at home. In New Puppy,” it shares what it thinks about a newcomer in the house. “I'm Lost” deals with a dog getting lost after it wanders away from home.

Jill Meunier's “No Bones About It: A Dog Lover's Inspirational Poems” (2nd Edition) is a potpourri of experiences, emotions, and insights (from the perspective of both human and dog). Poetry lovers among dog lovers and vice versa will love this book.
