Help Save Marion County Horse Farms

By: PRLog

OCALA, Fla. - Aug. 18, 2022 - PRLog -- "The Horse Capital is being destroyed by overdevelopment and corrupt career politicians - it is turning us into another Orlando and it has to stop," said Brian Donnelly. "Everything we love is being ruined and taxpayers are footing the bill. I can't sit back any longer and do nothing – I decided to run to try and stop the madness."

Marion County Florida is the Horse Capital of the World. It's special soils and world class training facilities make it an ideal place for horse enthusiasts. Marion County has a Farmland Preservation Area that is under extreme development pressure raising concerns throughout the county for its protected status from commercial and industrial development.

"I love this county, I love our farms and our people, and we are all under threat from turnpikes, warehouses and Commissioners who vote for their campaign donors instead of with the people – 90% of which want to protect and preserve this area. I am running to return the Board of County Commissioners a place where people are served and not treated like some necessary inconvenience," said Donnelly.

Like most places in Florida development is happening at a furious pace. Some of the most beautiful parts of the state are under threat of losing their water, their treasured natural assets and their history. Towns and cities are not collecting impact fees causing billions of unfunded needs that most taxpayers are unaware of. With ballooning debt, overcrowded schools and our declining health statistics, Florida is quickly becoming something it never wanted or imagined.

"We have billionaires getting grants without discussion while existing taxpayers are told they must pay. We have existing taxpayers told they are not a priority while developers get zoning changes, variance comprehensive plan changes and officials wanting to illegally invoke the 5th amendment to seize private land for private development – against the wishes of the neighbors and the community at large. It is not right; it is creating a lot of hostility and our once peaceful community is becoming outraged," said Donnelly.

The general election is November 8th. "It's not about me – its about everyone who feels forgotten, whose dreams are being shattered and those who have lost hope," says Donnelly. "I think people will be very surprised come November 9th – it will truly be a day to celebrate for all Marion County residents because they will finally have someone they can count on to tackle the issues, get us back on our feet financially and create a legacy our kids will be proud of," says Donnelly. "Stop the lyin and the cryin and vote for Brian in District 4."
