The inaugural summit will be hosted in the STEM City USA metaverse and gather STEM experts to discuss solutions toward ebbing the climate crisis from corporate influence to community action. General Motors' Executive VP Gerald Johnson will provide a special one-on-one discussion at the summit.
BALTIMORE - Sept. 6, 2022 - PRLog -- The world is changing. With that change comes a demand for this generation to take the necessary actions to ensure a safe and liveable planet for future generations. Career Communications Group (CCG) is hosting the first annual Green Summit, an opportunity to gather some of the brightest minds in STEM to discuss the actions currently in motion to help save the planet. The event will take place in the STEM City USA metaverse (www.stemcityusa.com) on Sept. 16, 2022, from 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM EST.
Ninety-seven percent of active climate scientists agree that human activities are causing rising sea levels, flooding, wildfires, melting polar ice, and declining biodiversity. The evidence around us points to human activity as a primary cause of these accelerated climate changes.
However, human activity can also be a solution to a brighter and more sustainable future. The STEM City USA Green Summit will feature four sessions on the climate crisis. Each session features a panel of STEM subject matter experts who will share news and views on what institutions are doing to reduce their carbon footprint and what individuals can do in their community.
The four-panel discussion sessions plan to include the following topics:
- Climate Change: What is Happening to our Planet
- HBCUs: Fighting Climate Change to Save Our Planet
- Climate-Improvement Government: Fresh Perspectives on Climate Change
- Clean Energy Climate Solutions: Saving the World One Step at a Time
In addition to the featured panel speakers, STEM City USA's Green Summit will include a one-on-one discussion with Gerald Johnson, Executive Vice President of Global Manufacturing and Sustainability at General Motors.
Johnson is the recipient of the 2021 Black Engineer of the Year Award and is recognized for advancing GM's diversity and inclusion programs and COVID-19 responses. He will discuss General Motors' forward-looking initiatives, including the accomplishments of Factory ZERO (the company's first fully dedicated electric vehicle assembly plant) and GM's plans to impact the planet's climate from their platform in the auto industry.
Gathering of Minds Bridging the Digital Divide
Launched in 2021, STEM City USA is the leading metaverse platform that helps promote growth in historically underrepresented communities in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) by networking with leaders and decision-makers who share knowledge and information essential for advancement. This platform gives participants additional health, training, mentoring, and lifestyle support. In 2022, STEM City USA was nominated by XR Today as a finalist for the "Best Metaverse Solution."
The Green Summit is the third summit CCG has hosted this year but is one of many digital events on CCG's repository. As hosts of the Women of Color Conference and BEYA STEM Conference, CCG has pioneered putting together immersive digital twin experiences. The first summit, the Women to Watch Summit, was held on the Women of Color DTX platform, and the subsequent Leading Voices Summit was held on the BEYA DTX platform. The 2022 Green Planet Summit is the first to be held on the STEM City USA platform.
